Tallahassee Pets Alive! is ready to duplicate the highly successful & proven methods of Austin, Texas, Reno, Nevada, New Mexico, and now Florida’s own Manatee County to save all at-risk, healthy & treatable homeless pets in Leon County.
A No-Kill shelter saves all treatable and adoptable pets. This means 90%-98% of incoming animals are saved. Only animals that are too sick to be treated or too aggressive to be rehabilitated are humanely euthanized. A pet is NEVER killed due to lack of kennel space. A No-Kill shelter can be open admission and accept all animals.
Tallahassee Pets Alive is looking for volunteers to help us spread our message.
Do you have a special skill or talent? We need it all! Check out our Volunteer Opportunities page to see all available positions!
If thousands of Florida bears, or bobcats, or any other species of wildlife were being killed each year, there would be a public outcry like no other. So why are our most beloved companion animals, those animals that citizens spend billions of dollars on each year, allowed to be killed every day in our city/county run shelters without so much as a peep?
Formed in January 2012 by a small group of volunteers in the Tallahassee area, Tallahassee Pets Alive (TPA) is a non-profit organization* dedicated to making Leon County, Florida a No-Kill community.
What can one person do? A lot! You are one person among many, and all of our collective actions will be what ultimately saves lives in our community. Volunteer with Tallahassee Pets Alive! or learn how to make a difference in your community!
The No Kill Equation focuses on alternatives to killing, bringing the focus back where it should be: life saving. Volunteers, a compassionate director, and public relations/community involvement are the key forces that tie everything together
